The New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC) is the real estate licensing authority. The Commission administers and enforces New Jersey's real estate licensing law and regulations adopted by the Commission. All applicants for a license as a broker, salesperson or broker-salesperson must fulfill the educational requirements for a license established by law, and pass an examination conducted under the supervision of the Commission. The Commission is empowered to revoke licenses and/or otherwise sanction individuals and firms for violations of the license law.

The National Association of REALTORS® and its affiliated Institutes, Societies, and Councils provide a wide-range of programs and services that assist members in increasing skills, proficiency, and knowledge. Designations and certifications acknowledging experience and expertise in various real estate sectors are awarded by NAR and each affiliated group upon completion of required courses.

All REALTORS® members are mandated by the National Association of REALTORS® to complete the Cycle 3 Quadrennial Code of Ethics training by December 31, 2012.
