Hasbrouck Heights — the Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors® (EBCBOR) participated in a community project with Rebuilding Together Bergen County on April 28th for the 2018 National Rebuilding Day. Volunteers came together to help paint and refurbish a home of a local homeowner in Englewood, NJ. Realtors® volunteers were led by EBCBOR Community Service & Outreach Committee Chair Hilda Williams of Coldwell Banker Fort Lee and Vice-Chair, Arlene Cohn of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s, alongside Project Coordinators and EBCBOR members Lisa Fox of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s & Donna Brown of United Real Estate.

The Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors® has been a proud partner and sponsor of Rebuilding Together Bergen County for many years. Their partnership comes from the same goal and mindset to help families within the county who are going though hardships that are impeding them from being able to make home improvements that are necessary for their safety and well being.

“Too many of our neighbors here in northern New Jersey are living in unsafe homes,” said Gretchen Viggiano, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together North Jersey. “National Rebuilding Day serves as a call to action to encourage everyone to support each other on a local level.”

Each year, EBCBOR’s Community Service & Outreach Committee is committed to the participation in National Rebuilding Day through volunteerism and financial donations from EBCBOR’s Charitable arm, The Realtors® Care Foundation. As a result, this year was no exception to another successful event.  “National Rebuilding Day was the successful culmination of months of preparation and hard work,” said Matt Lucivero, Community Outreach Coordinator for Rebuilding Together North Jersey, “seeing the relief in the homeowner’s faces that are now able to live with one less worry because their homes are safe, makes it all worth it.”

Chandrika ‘Basil’ singh, EBCBOR’s 2018 President stated, “Our community service & outreach committee members annually partner with different charitable organizations throughout Bergen County, including Rebuilding Together. Our members continuously strive to make a difference by giving back and helping communities in need. Rebuilding Together is a great organization designed to give homeowners some peace of mind knowing that there is a community out there to help them prevent their homes from falling apart. As Realtors, our motto is ‘Realtors do more than sell houses’ and this could not be truer; our members are constantly making time to give back within the communities where they live and work.  It is for this reason that our partnership with Rebuilding Together works.”

EBCBOR, chartered in 1923, has served Realtors and consumers in Bergen County for more than 90 years. As a not-for-profit trade organization, it represents over 4,000 Realtor members in Bergen and Hudson Counties. EBCBOR is dedicated to enhancing the business opportunities of its membership by providing them with industry information, political advocacy and educational opportunities.
